Kitchen and bathroom

I'm attaching "before" pictures of my kitchen and my bathroom. We're not re-doing the bathroom at this point, but it's to show where the TV is in relation to the rest of the room. I love my kitchen and bathroom but they're 23 years old and the times they are a changin'. The kitchen will get some minor modifications next week. It's been a chore, but also useful to empty out all the cabinets. It'll be good to donate things I haven't seen in 20 years and to rearrange so I'll use things more often. I wish that styles and trends wouldn't change, but then the manufacturers wouldn't make any money with remodeling and renovations.

Here's my kitchen:

The refrigerator magnets are from places we've visited.

The bathroom:

My part of the bathroom:

See the little TV on the far right? That's Mr. Puffy's area.

Here's another view of his area, with the TV on the right. We attached speakers from our computer to the TV for better sound.

Shopping

It's so difficult to resist the ads, sales, and hype about shopping, this time of year. On Black Friday, we went out late in the day and experienced no crowds. Mr. Puffy got a pair of jeans from Old Navy. We bought a shower caddy and squeegie from Wal-Mart. We went to Macy's at the mall but didn't find anything we wanted.

We found a 4 GB card for the camera for $10 at Target and a $79.99 little 7-inch TV for our bathroom. It will replace the 22 year old 5 inch TV that's in the bathroom now. Target also had a good deal on blank DVD's for recording.

On Sunday, we went to Best Buy and got a Blu Ray player for the advertised online price of $129.99. The ad stated we'd get $30 worth of Blue Ray discs with purchase. At the cash register, we had to tell the girl about both offers...meeting the online price and the free disc. We got a boxed set of Forrest Gump and the box smells like chocolate. The Blue Ray discs are expensive!

Trader Joe's moved next door to Best Buy so we went there and spent about $35 on interesting looking meals for the week. Mr. Puffy loves the frozen package of Cioppino. All you do is heat it up on the stove.

Speaking of stoves, we're about to do some renovations on our kitchen. I wish I had decided to do this a few months ago, so we wouldn't have to rush in order to get it done by mid January when relatives come to town. I'm not sure it'll be done by then. There's so many decisions to make and I just want to do it fast and get it over with. However, I don't want to regret my choices. I love my kitchen the way it is, but I want to update it a little bit. I've never disliked the appliances that have come with my new houses, and I'm not a gourmet chef, so I don't care about the gourmet aspect or gourmet prices. We won't be tearing it apart, just a little updating. I'm so looking forward to the end result!
