Wedding Plans

Wedding plans have been taking up most of my free time. I have a big overstuffed notebook full of info. I'm doing most of the research on aspects of the wedding and then my daughter makes the decisions. It's working out well.

The paper products, such as invitations, enclosures, and thank you notes arrived last week. I'll be addressing them in calligraphy. When we fly out for the shower, I have to bring the wedding dress and veil with me so I hope the airline will have space in the closet in first class for it. I'll be in coach, but the dress will be in first class, I hope!

The resort where the wedding will be held casually informed my daughter that there is a wedding 1/2 hour before hers at the same gazebo. We not-so-casually informed them that this is not right. After about 3 weeks of haggling, we worked something out. So far, that is our only drama.

We're also planning a local reception for the bride and groom about 3 months after they get married. I'm in the midst of planning two big events! It's a little scary to anticipate it all coming together, but it will.

My very slight brush with fame

At the L.A. Dodger game last week, the owner of the Dodgers, Frank McCourt came over to our aisle, sat down on the step and talked with the crowd. He sat for pictures and autographs, which was nice of him.

The Encino home of Michael Jackson's family is a few blocks from one of my clients. I don't know how all those people got through the barriers to get to the Jackson home. All I saw were lots of TV trucks and policemen .

We had great seats to see John Fogerty at the Hollywood Bowl. He gave a superb performance. His voice is as strong as ever. I thought of Boo when he sang one of her favorite songs, "Center Field." The guitar he used for that song was shaped like a baseball bat. At the end of "Bad Moon Rising," instead of "there's a bad moon on the right," he said "there's a BATHROOM on the right," and there really was a bathroom on the right of the stage. The three Independence Day shows are July 2, 3, and 4. The fireworks were spectacular. I've gone for the past 3 years and they get better every year.

Happy 4th!
