Thanksgiving Wishes

Holy Toledo! I haven't updated in ages. I guess I've said everything that I would have updated about, in other people's blogs.

We're going to a friend's house for Thanksgiving. But we bought our own $4.88 turkey to make on Friday or Saturday. It'll make yummy leftovers and turkey soup.

I finally watched the Lifetime TV movie, "Living Proof" about the oncologist who developed the breast cancer drug, Herceptin, and his efforts to keep the drug trials afloat. What an inspiring, yet also maddening movie! The bureaucracy that is the FDA is frustrating.

Last night I watched the PBS documentary, "The Rape of Europa." It was about the looting, plundering, destruction, and bombing of works of art and personal valuables in Europe during WWII. It also detailed the rescue of Europe's treasures and attempts to return them to the rightful owners. The U.S. military had a large part in saving and locating hidden treasures. It was an amazing story.

I've been looking for "deals" at Mervyns and Linens 'N Things which are going out of business. Don't the liquidators know that we already got the stuff at 20-50% off before the bankruptcy? Their sales are nothing yet. I'm waiting. I'm not looking forward to seeing more and more empty stores in shopping centers. This is scary. I am not a "Black Friday" shopper. Sometimes we like to go to the mall on the Friday night after Thanksgiving. We mostly see salespeople and a mess of merchandise. It's not usually crowded.

I've had a couple of fantastic Ebay experiences recently. I sold a John McCain POW bracelet for a huge amount and I bought Swarovski Crystalline flutes for my daughter's wedding (the one item she really really really really desired) at half the retail value. *satisfied sigh*
